President's Message

John & Jeannie Vezeau

John & Jeannie Vezeau

We hope you all have had a wonderful summer. We’ve heard comments from several members about their travels during the past few months. It seems as if a number of folks have been traveling around domestically and internationally. We hope they’ll gladly share pictures and stories of their adventures.

September 10 Meeting

Please make every effort to attend this annual meeting where we elect officers for 2010. As we mentioned at the summer picnic, all but one of our current officers agreed to be nominated for a second year. Our current treasurer, Sandy Broderick, is stepping aside because she will be very active in 2010 as the Exchange Director for the exchange to Belgium. Janet Campbell has offered to serve as treasurer in her place. Our by-laws provide for nominations from the floor. So, if you would like to be nominated for a particular office, please let us and the chairperson of the nominating committee, Cheryl Kinberger, know in advance of your willingness to serve.

Also, at the September meeting, we will have a special speaker, Claudia Peralta-Mudd, the director of Louisville Metro’s Office of International Affairs. She will tell us about the various activities of her office, including the WorldFest, which many of us have enjoyed this year and previous years.

Accounting Advice Sought

Your presidents could use some professional advice from an individual with a CPA background to establish simple budgets and financial reporting sheets for FFLK. If you (or a member of your family or a friend) have this accounting experience and would be willing to spend an evening with us, please contact us.

Not-For-Profit Status for FFLK

Our board has just authorized your presidents to work with Friendship Force International in seeking a group tax-exempt status for FF chapters in the United States as 501 (c)(3) organizations. We will let you know more about this project as it develops.

Looking forward to seeing you at our meetings …
