 On
April 19, a rainy Sunday afternoon, 16 Friendship Force members and guests
dined on a delectable Dim Sum meal at the Jade Palace in Westport Village.
Peter, the restaurant owner and manager, explained that Dim Sum literally
means "little bites," or a small portion. Eating this way allows the
diner to experience a wide variety of Chinese foods. Peter spoke to us
about what we were eating and how it was prepared. We were served
"family style," complete with a lazy susan style table where we
all shared the Chinese Dim Sum. Among the items served were Harng Sui Kwok
(spiced chicken and sweet rice), Shrimp Dumplings, Woo Kwok (deep fried
taro), Char Sui So (baked puff with barbequed pork), Cheun Koen (spring
rolls), Char Sui Bao (steamed pork bun), Jeen Duey (sesame seed lotus puff)
and
Stir Fried Rice Noodle with Beef and Cantonese Chicken. After lunch we
sipped our Chinese tea over pleasant conversation with friends. What a
great way to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon with friends!
