Dim Sum Anyone?

Katie Foley

Jade PalaceOur first Friendship Force "Special Event" activity, scheduled for Sunday, April 19, will be an authentic Chinese Dim Sum lunch at the Jade Palace, 1109 Herr Lane, in the Westport Village Shopping Center (formerly Camelot).  According to its website, this is the only Chinese restaurant in Louisville that serves the true, authentic, traditional dim sum.

Dim sum (literally meaning "touch the heart") is the name for a Chinese cuisine which involves a wide range of light dishes served alongside Chinese tea.  Dishes come in small portions and may include meat, seafood, and vegetables, as well as desserts and fruit.

We will meet at 2:00 p.m. and have reserved seating together.  We will be served "family style" so that everyone will have an opportunity to try a variety of dim sum (Chinese dumplings) along with some traditional side dishes.  Peter, owner/manager, will speak to us about the ingredients and preparation of dim sum and answer any questions we might have about Cantonese Chinese cuisine.  The cost will be approximately $20 per person.

If you plan to attend, please call Katie Foley, 241-7681, so that we can know how many members and guests to expect and can plan accordingly.

If you have ideas for our "Special Event" months ... June, August and October, please pass them along to Katie Foley or Martha O'Bryan.  We're thinking about a multi-cultural Wine and Cheese Party for June. More details to come later.
