2008 Christmas Party Report |
|
|
We were served a scrumptious buffet style dinner in a warm and cozy Christmas atmosphere. Again, this year we gave to a local charity instead of doing a gift exchange. FFLK members donated $400 to the Cabbage Patch Settlement home on 6th Street, a nonprofit, Christian organization that exists to empower families and children to be self-sufficient by helping them maximize their spiritual, social, emotional, physical, moral, economic and educational potential. Rose Lowry-Duke has been on their board for over 40 years, so we gave this donation in her honor. This year we enjoyed entertainment provided by the singers "Wow," a four woman barbershop quartet. We loved singing along with them while performing their Christmas songs. Certainly the high point of the night was Santa John; he really was the perfect Santa. His dresser was Jeannie, but I am sure she did not have to add any more beard. John was wearing the outfit that belonged to Ott Pollei, and I was sorry that Dot and Ott were out of town and missed this show. It was Darlene Eubank's idea for the Santa and she was his toy shopper (head elf) this season. Everyone loved playing with the yo-yos, shaker toys and cards that Santa gave as gifts.
